HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE. DONATE TODAY!We are dedicated to advocating for the social inclusion of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships, leadership development and integrated employment. Through Best Buddies, hundreds of thousands of people with IDD have successfully moved from segregation and desolation to a new acceptance in their family and community.
As an important part of Best Buddies International,
Best Buddies Massachusetts volunteers, supporters, and advocates are taking part in a GLOBAL movement to enhance the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. An estimated 2 percent of the United States population have intellectual disabilities (IDD). Autism occurs in one of every 150 births and at a rate of five boys to every girl; Down's syndrome occurs in one in every 700 births.
Intellectual Disabilities knows no boundaries. It cuts across the lines of racial, ethnic, educational, social and economic backgrounds, and it can occur in any family - perhaps you know someone. The most important fact to know about individuals with IDD is that they are more like others than they are different. With your help, we can change lives and build stronger communities, one friendship at a time.
Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Best Buddies programs engage participants in every state and in 50 countries around the world. Locally, we have over 1,200 participants engaged in one-to-one friendships and changing the world through social inclusion.
